Destination: Getaway House

Last month, we took an overnight trip up to Suches, Georgia and stayed at Getaway House. We've been talking about going for forever and finally found the time to do it. From Atlanta, Getaway House is less than a two hour drive. It's easy to get to and you'll only need to bring the essentials.

Honestly, I was surprised how comfortable our tiny cabin was; I was a little skeptical. I'm trying to get on the camping train, but I'm not there yet. Troster loves camping and would go once a month if he could. This was the perfect compromise. Most of the tiny houses were being occupied, but they are spaced out far enough that is really feels like your own little retreat. All of the cabins come equipped with heat/air conditioning, coffee/tea, pots/pans, even shampoo and conditioner. I loved the little touches when we arrived. A paper bag filled with ingredients to make s'mores, a map and suggestions of things to do, a handwritten note with wishes for our stay.

We chose a cabin with queen bunk beds and the cabin still felt roomy. We packed food to have for dinner and breakfast, but we really didn't need to. Right across from the cabins is a tasty BBQ restaurant and right down the road you can find a little shop with the most delicious breakfast sandwiches. Hiking trails and waterfalls are close by too. I feel like we found the perfect compromise with Getaway House. A feel of camping for Troster and comfort for me, and feeling recharged when we left. We are planning to go back this summer and I'm actually looking forward to it.
