A few weeks ago, I had the lucky opportunity of having my talented friend, Susan of SM Styled come over and edit my closet for the Fall & Winter season. SM Styled offers in home & virtual closet & style edits, as well as personal shopping.
First off let me just say that I love Susan's approach to style and getting dressed,
"I started SM styled because I saw a space between the ‘more more more’ philosophy with Instagram influencers and every day real life woman wanting to refine their style but not knowing exactly where to start.
Between babies, pregnancies, job, and lifestyle changes I had so many women in my life feeling somewhat stuck in their current closets / clothes. I was helping friends for years with their closets and wardrobes and with the confidence boost and push from these amazing women SM Styled was born.

My closet was already pretty organized, but Susan was able to take a look and really help me hone in on what I was missing and what I didn't need anymore.
Before she came to my house, she sent me a detailed questionnaire about what my goals were as far as style and what exactly I wanted to get out of my session.
As we went through each piece of clothing, if I had trouble on whether to keep something or let it go; she asked me things like:
- Have you gone two seasons without wearing?
- Does the article of clothing hold sentimental value?
- Is it a classic staple to your wardrobe?
If the answer was no, out of the closet it went.
After we decided what to keep or get rid of, we talked about what I felt like I was missing in my wardrobe. We talked about mostly what makes me feel comfortable and what will I get the most wear out of during the season. For me I was in need of some key versatile pieces: a new pair of black jeans, a gray sweater, a long sleeved maxi, and a few other staples. At the end of my session with Susan I felt refreshed and excited to get dressed again, no matter where I was headed. The next day Susan sent me a Pinterest Board with the pieces I wanted to purchase. Everything was thoughtfully organized in one spot for when I was ready to buy my new pieces. I also loved that she had a separate board from where I could purchase the pieces locally.
If you are looking to edit/update your wardrobe, or just add in some key pieces, I highly recommend SM Styled. Having someone look in your closet is personal, but it is so worth it! I can't wait to have Susan help me when spring hits.
One last thing to share, Susan left this verse for me to hang in my closet and I just love it so much:
"Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience, which binds them all together in perfect unity" - Colossians 3:12-15
