A Look at Charlie's Big Boy Room

The time has arrived to update Charlie's room. I remember having so much fun designing his nursery over 3 years ago, and I can't believe he is old enough for a big boy room. He actually stopped sleeping in his crib in November. We had a guest bed in his room too and one night he just decided that he wanted to sleep in it.

If you have watched my stories on Instagram, then you know that Charlie is a truck lover. Actually, a lover of any moving vehicle. His favorite color also happens to be blue. I stuck with colors that are throughout our home: blue, gray, and white. Caroline's room is the only exception, mostly all pink in her room. I wanted his room to feel classic, but also feel like him. I picked pieces that will grow with him and last a long time.

I picked out this full size bed from Pottery Barn Kids. Caroline's furniture also happens to be from PBK and I've been so pleased with it. His bed is made of solid wood and is green gold certified. I love that I didn't have to use a box spring with it either. The all foam mattress from Leesa has worked out wonderfully with it. I did a ton of research on what mattress to get for his room. I knew I wanted an all foam mattress for him and Leesa had some of the best reviews.

I decided to use this stool instead of a nightstand next to his bed because we are adding two sconces on either side of his bed. I styled it with some bedtime books and his water cup, easy!

The dresser pictured above from Crate+Kids is a larger size than what I actually purchased. He has a large closet, so I didn't need a dresser that big. I love the hint of blue and the brass detailing on the pulls. Sadly, it's not available anymore on their site (I got it on clearance).

I wanted to add some warmth in his room, so this jute/chenille rug from PBK did the trick, along with a huge lounger (not pictured, but same concept as the lounger from Serena & Lily pictured above) that I found at a local shop here in Atlanta.

How cute are these truck prints? This artist has a multitude of transportation art on her Etsy site in any color you'd like. I also added this custom pennant flag, also found on Etsy. Whenever Charlie is ready to do something he yells, "1, 2, 3 Do It!" I thought that would be so cute to have his own saying above his bed. You can see it pictured at the bottom of this post.

I wanted to continue the transportation theme with his bedding, so Pehr Designs came to the rescue. I love the subtleness of the vehicles. It doesn't take over or feel overwhelming. They get softer each time you wash them. Caroline has had a set for a few years now, and they still feel brand new. I also got him this handmade quilt on Etsy to put at the end of his bed. I love the blue stitching.

I've worked with Pehr Designs a few times now, so you may have seen me post about their storage sets. They helped me pick up some fun storage solutions for Charlie's room, including the stripe hamper shown above. This is where all of his stuffed animals (mainly cats) are housed.

His room isn't quite done yet. We still need to get it repainted, hang the sconces, frame/hang the artwork etc. I can't wait to show you all the updates when it's completed.
